Line Input

“Line Input” is a way to connect different audio devices together. Imagine you have a guitar, a keyboard, or even a microphone, and you want to record or play the sound from these instruments using a computer or a mixer. This is where “Line Input” comes into play.

Think of “Line Input” as a port on your computer or mixer that acts like an ear. It listens to the sounds produced by your instruments and converts them into digital signals that the computer can understand. Just like plugging in your headphones to a phone, you connect your instrument to the “Line Input” using a cable.

But wait, why is it called “Line Input”? Well, it’s called “Line Input” because it’s mainly used for devices that produce a “line-level” signal. A line-level signal is a strong and standardised signal that comes from instruments or other audio sources. It’s different from a weaker “microphone-level” signal that you might get from a regular microphone.

The great thing about “Line Input” is that it captures the sound from your instrument with high fidelity. It doesn’t add much noise or distortion, so what you hear is pretty much what you get. This makes it perfect for recording music or connecting different audio equipment in a professional setup.
