Patch
Think of a patch as a set of instructions or settings that tell your synthesizer exactly how to produce a particular sound.
Each patch has unique ingredients that shape the sound. These ingredients are called “parameters.” For instance, you might have parameters for the pitch, volume, tone, and effects of the sound. By adjusting these parameters, you can make the sound brighter, softer, deeper, or more distorted—just like tweaking the settings on a microwave to cook your popcorn to perfection!
What’s fascinating is that patches can mimic real-world instruments, like a guitar or violin, or create completely otherworldly sounds you wouldn’t find in nature. This versatility allows musicians to explore endless creative possibilities and invent new sounds that no one has ever heard before!
